ANSWER: RN's are not required to take an IV certification and Blood Withdrawal course by the state, but are often asked to do so by their employer. Many RN's opt to take the course simply for the additional knowledge, experience, and self-confidence that they will receive. Our LOW-STRESS IV Therapy Course and Blood Withdrawal course meets and exceeds California State requirements for IV Therapy and Blood Withdrawal certification. QUESTION: Will we be starting IV’s and drawing blood on live candidates as part of the IV Therapy / Blood Withdrawal certification course?
ANSWER: Yes, California state law requires that you must administer 3 successful live sticks in order to be certified. To ensure students feel comfortable during testing, safety issues and possible complications are covered prior to examination. On the last day of the course, as part of the testing, you and your class mates will be starting IVs and drawing blood on each other. If you do not feel comfortable having someone start an IV on you, you can bring a proxy to take your place (you will be starting IV’s on your proxy). Our instructors will work closely with each student to instill confidence and to guarantee the best learning experience possible.
